Common construction conflicts

When a construction project is not managed down to every detail, disputes can easily arise. This is because every construction project is bound to run into unexpected circumstances. This could be a delay in the delivery of the materials, unexpected sick leave of a worker or a change in the demands of a client. Therefore, paperwork and contracts that are written out at the beginning should account for who is liable in every imaginable circumstance.

Conflicts over the project scope

One of the most common disputes that arise in construction projects is a disagreement on the scope of work that must be carried out. Building any structure has many different aspects to it; therefore, every minute task must be written out and allocated to different deliverers to avoid confusion further down the line.

Conflicts due to the conditions of the site

When construction workers arrive at the site physically, they may realize that the project that was assigned to them was not feasible or will need a lot more work than originally specified. In most cases, the landowner has a duty to inform contractors of the exact condition of the site before they start work.

Conflicts due to subcontractors

When a company does not have the means to deliver, they may subcontract out some of the work. This could lead to a conflict if the client does not have faith in the abilities of the subcontracting services.

It is important to account for as many scenarios as possible when writing out a construction project contract in order to prevent conflicts further down the line.
